Lifeprint

The footprint of how you live, beyond carbon.

For people who want to live a more informed and responsible life. The way you live has effects on your own body, time and money, on the people who make what you use and the people you pay, on those not yet born, and on land, water and animals. This page gathers those effects in one place so you can see them whole, decide for yourself what they mean, and change what you choose to. It measures; it does not judge.

Start with the quick version: about twenty questions, five minutes, and fifteen measures fill in across all four areas. Switch to the full version when you want the rest of the picture: work, care, money and civic life. Each answer on the left fills a measure on the right. Select the country to compare its average to your answers, and tick the references you want drawn on the cards. If you skip a question, it is not measured.

Methodology: sources, constants and known limitations Factors are first-pass approximations from open sources (DEFRA and ADEME emission factors, Agribalyse via Open Food Facts, EXIOBASE category averages, the US Department of Labor list of goods, FAOSTAT, INE) and are marked on each card; tier 2 answers would narrow every range.
